Media Pastor
Our Minister of Media, Mike Connor, grew up in Hendersonville, NC and has always had an interest in and passion for electronics and computers. Mike grew up in church and felt God’s call on his life while in high school, as he served as a volunteer sound engineer for his youth choir, was hired to run sound for several local city-wide events, and as he worked at a professional recording studio for a period of time. Mike graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, with a BS in Industrial Technologies – Electronics and a minor in Communications, then went on to work in the corporate world as an IT system engineer and later as a technical services supervisor. During his years working in the computer support industry, Mike also volunteered at his church, serving in the various areas of the media ministry for over 12 years before he finally answered God’s call on his life to full-time ministry. Mike was ordained at First Baptist North Spartanburg and then joined the staff of Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC to serve as associate pastor of technical ministries for 4 years before God called him to Colonial Heights Baptist Church in January 2008.
Mike’s desire is to use the tools of technology to help all ministry areas of CHBaptist to tell the story of Jesus, and in doing so, to have an impact on our community, our state, and our world for Christ. The Media Ministry bears the name CrossWired because it is Mike’s firm belief that we must be wired to the cross of Christ and to the power of the Lord Jesus as our only source for all that we do.
Mike married his best friend, Lisa, in 1988, and since then, they have been blessed with three children, Sam, Andy and Sarah. Mike enjoys spending time with his family, reading technical books/magazines, and vacationing at the beach.
